Haven't seen this posted anywhere else on the Atlas so far.

Sen John Boozman(R-AR) has had emergency heart surgery Monday night on a visit back to Arkansas after experiencing severe pain in his chest and arms

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2014/04/22/john-boozman-has-emergency-heart-surgery/

I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he is able to get back to work soon.

Yeah, it sucks for anyone to have heart surgery. Hope he comes out of it okay.

And though I hate to be "that guy", if it turns for the worse, what's the most likely event in terms of replacement?

Does Arkansas law even allow for Gov appointments to seats? Jerry, come in here and tell us! Tongue

The surgery apparently went well and I wish Boozman the best in his recovery even if we disagree ideologically, but if he were to die unexpectedly and Beebe is allowed to appoint somebody, I would love to see Vic Snyder in that seat. He would be a great liberal replacement (who I would have loved to have seen attempted to primary Pryor to his left) and really, anybody's better than Marion Berry.

I had him on the retirement outlook list before this.  I really think he could retire after one term.  He already has a good pension, and he most likely will be senior senator from Arkansas next year.

Does Boozman have a history of health issues? I assume Womack would run if Boozman retired.

Scratch Boozman from Presidential/VP talk... heart surgery tends to prevent that sort of thing.
