Because a nonpartisan day of sharing faith and reflection is such a great time to declare Barack Obama "the abortion president."

Ironically, the easiest way to destroy the Religious Right would probably be to call their bluff and ban all abortions. They wouldn't be able to make any more money out of fetus-related outrage and they would have no reason to exist.

The Republicans will never allow Roe to be overturned, and they'd fight tooth and nail to keep it from happening if it ever actually looked likely. The next GOP nominee to the Supreme Court will be a 'moderate' who sails through the Senate on the strength of their reasonableness on the issue - and keeps abortion alive for Republicans for decades to come.
