Not giving me much to respond to, here. I think MRA types are slapstick crazies. I also think much of modern feminism is oversensitive, preachy, prudery. Granted, I'm much less fond of the former than the latter, but..

Many aspects of social justice movements can be perceived as preachy and oversensitive to those who don't fully grasp the extent to which inequalities are present in our society. The same could be said about civil rights or LGBT activism, but also of the advocates of wealth redistribution. Of course, some internet feminists from tublr and all can be genuinely sanctimonious and arrogant, but they don't represent feminism in the same way than tumblr atheists don't represent atheism or that Snowstalker doesn't represent Marxism.

Is this the part where we spend several posts arguing over the nebulous definition of "feminist" so that it can mean only the most positive thing you intend for it to mean?

Besides, it's not as if I disagree with the stated goal of gender equality.

If you support the goal of gender equality but reject the idea of feminism, your definition of feminism must be wrong somewhere. So yeah, I would tend to believe such a conversation would be pretty helpful. Wink
