Things like that last line are what make me incapable of taking conservatives seriously in a democratic age. Why not base your contempt for the homeless on your own intrinsic feelings, rather than justify it by appeal to the 'public health'?

The Pope should come in and start feeding them. That would be epic.

You do realize that the war on helping the homeless is not a conservative/lib thing right? Here in the US much of the anti homeless laws in the Majors cities are given to us by people on the left.

That is true. Often times homeless people depress the value of property and, unfortunately, have to be moved. This is partially why cities should be split up; the homeless people would go to wealthy republican areas and make them poorer so that they can't contribute as much to campaigns and would bear the responsibility of a worse economy.

Those people may be liberal, but if they are passing laws penalizing the homeless then they are, at least in that respect, by definition not on the left.

Precisely so. American-style liberals and their overseas counterparts in labo(u)r parties are functional conservatives. There is a revolutionary Left, and a reactionary Right; all the rest are conservatives.

Likely because the people he's taking about here are gypsies (I may be wrong, but often when politicians talk about homeless they are talking about gypsies), how offensive this may sound, by keeping the wording racial neutral, they just look like a asshole, rather bring the courts and international press down on them.
