Just a wild guess. I needed a running mate for Quimby and I think the show often characterizes Republicans as evil and twisted minds, while Democrats tend to be lazy, incompetent and/or corrupt. That said, I simply couldn´t imagine Wiggum to be a Republican.

Interestingly, most cops are GOP at least in the area I live.  Of course they are mostly the white cops.

Your´re right, Wiggum is a yellow cop.

Anyway, Wiggum seems to be very "soft on crime"... although it´s probably not intentional, but rather caused by his dullness.

Well, no. Think to why he stole the trillion dollars - to keep U.S. taxpayer money from going to other countries. Libertarians are against foreign aid, only private charity is supported.
