Hell no. Tim Pawlenty was a horrible budget manager in Minnesota, and basically allowed for Minnesota to have one of the largest budget deficits in the country.

I know Walter likes to judge Governors based on little pet issues, but honestly I can't find any evidence of Pawlenty as even semi-competent manager of Minnesota. Yet he was considered VP material in 08 and ran for President in 12? What the hell?

Ah, so you agree with him on one specific and quite minor issue. Well, I guess that makes him the second coming of Abraham Lincoln.

I love your deep and large-scale analyses, Walter. Keep it going.

Banning one variation of cigarettes is not going to reduce overall cigarette consumption. Is Minnesota now a state with less tobacco use specifically because of Pawlenty?

It's a shame muon2 hasn't seen this thread.  When I had the privilege of meeting him we were discussing characters in the pub party and he knew quite a bit about Pawlenty the average shmoe like me never knew.

Maybe he'll post some things here.

I think he was a good governor for the people of Minnesota.  Maybe not as good as Stassen, Andersen, or Carlson, but still good.

WalterMitty, you might find this of interest:

https://revenue.mt.gov/Portals/9/publications/special_publications/FinalReporttoGovernor_Jan2013.pdf

Ctrl-F "cigar" and you will find that Montana has made moves against flavoured cigarettes marketing lead by none other than notorious right-wing Democrat Brian "Worse than Cruz" Schweitzer. Any thoughts?
