Pete Stark was (or became) openly atheist. So was Kyrsten Sinema. Or do you mean as a non-incumbent?

Who was the blind Congressman almost 100 years ago?

Sinema never actually claimed to be Atheist, it was just attributed to her and her response is that she doesn't subscribe to any label.

Okay, but there's no way Woods's platform is, in fact, 'free from ideology'. That's just laughable.

Thomas Gore was blind...and an atheist, actually.

This is a very Republican part of Arizona -- dude hasn't got a chance. Sounds like he'd bring in an interesting point of view, though.

Pete Stark was (or became) openly atheist.

Indeed. Woods would be the first openly atheist candidate when elected for the first time.

Only blind member of Congress that comes to my mind is Senator Thomas P. Gore of Oklahoma, which was ap. 100 ago.
