No quite thankfully.

I just broke 96 hours after my tooth extraction, so I'm probably in the clear as far as that goes though I'll be safe and not start using a straw until a week after. Luckily I'm not a smoker, as I understand they make up the vast majority of dry socket cases.

If you lose the blood clot over an area where a tooth was extracted before the area has time to heal. This leaves the bone and nerves below exposed. Supposedly EXTREMELY painful.

Also why you're not supposed to drink through a straw in the next couple days after a tooth extraction as the suction can dislodge the clot. Smoking does the same thing.

I didn't know about the impact of smoking upon dental extractions, though it does make a lot sense now that you point it out. As if we needed another reason for smoking being a terrible thing.

Actually, yes.  I had one after having my wisdom teeth removed at age 14.

When I opened this thread I was expecting it to be about plumbing problems, either figuratively or literally.  But no problems with dental extractions as I neither smoke nor use a straw.

You need to spend just a little more time getting them in the mood, cowboy.  Or at least buy some lubricant.  There must be a Wal-mart near you.

No and that sounds horrific.

This is why I brush and floss every day and have never had so much as a cavity.

It's hard to out-angus, angus, especially after he's had copious amounts of red wine.  Smiley
