As Peter Bell has been officially nominated now by Alcon for the position of Vice President, I hereby call his confirmation hearing into session.

We'll have twenty-four hours of questioning, followed by a vote.

What will you do as VP?  And I mean this as a serious question, btw.

I intend on providing minor powers for the VP in the Third Senate Procedural Resolution, but what else do you plan on doing?

How will you use your non-existant powers?

To keep the force strong so that we may keep the Dark Side from destroying the Republic.

What will you do as VP? And I mean this as a serious question, btw.

Obviously I will try to work closely with the President in all matters relating to policy. I will certainly work to keep the Government active - I can do very little but be a busy body and help out government departments where I see that they are having problems.

I certainly want to explore the possibility of micronation diplomacy, and I will push hard for this from the inside. Hopefully I can be a part of any negoitiations that do open up.

The job is many things - its a counsellor to the President, but its not just a cabinet job that I've held before. I hope the position grows on me and that hopefully I make something out of it.

Other people seem to have questions, so I'll wait until nobody does before calling a vote.

Yeah, I see that.  Sorry.  I'm over zealous, sometimes.  Smiley

What is the real reason why you want to be Vice President? What do you hope to gain from the position? Do you want to be Vice President to set yourself up for a future Presidential run?

Future speculation is just that: Speculation. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought a couple of months down the line to what I might do in June, but there's still far too many variables to really pin anything definite down.

In your opinion, what other responsibilites should be granted to the office of the Vice President?

There isn't anything I can think of that really isn't already delegated solely to the President, and it is rightly delegated to that post.

I generally hope to achieve what I set out above, and there is certainly much to be done: For example, the Attorney General has recently stated a desire to create a more concise explaination of certain areas of forum affairs law on the wiki - this is certainly an area I can help out in given my past experience of both his post and from being deepily involved in many of those laws.

Obviously I'll do my bit around here when we lack a PPT (e.g. the beginning of the next session) and I'll be compliant with any additional powers I'm given under any new SPRs.

It's been more than 24 hours, so I hereby call a vote.

All senators in favor of Peter Bell for the office of Vice President, vote "aye"; all against, vote "nay".

---

Aye.

Oh, didn't you hear?  We're phasing out the job of President and are undertaking a corporate merger with the Catholic Church.

Does this mean that we have to, you know... like "become" like Peter and all those other bishops are sexually (you know, like opebo)?  If so, I'm off to start another Reformation.  Tongue

By tradition, I maintain joke titles in my "elect" or "designate" periods, though nothing during my actual time in office.
