Why isn't Our Dear Friend on his way to the job fair he said he was attending this morning?  Lurking here isn't going to help.

I went to a different job event early this morning.  I left the house about 7:45 and got home about 9:00.  It was an effort to throw out all the stops.  At this point, I'll even take a call center just so I can get a paycheck.  That's what the place was this morning - a staffing company hiring for a call center.  My financial cushion is getting smaller.

Uh oh, are your parents threatening to cut off your support? Or is your loan money running out?

You're cutting down on the wrong cushion, Jeff.

Loan money is dwindling.  I've still got a sizeable amount and have enough to survive for 2-3 months still, but I want to plug that hole quickly.

I know I am, but at this time it's the only thing keeping me afloat.

I think he tells people he's 5'8'' but I recall him admitting to being closer to 5'7''.

It offered advice other than "keep up the great work!"

Sorry, I've been busy trying to look for a job.  I just clicked on the link and it looks like it has some useful information.  I'll keep that as a reference.  Thanks, Joe.

Yeah, it's just dangerous. When do you have to start making payments towards your loan? I don't know how student loans work.

6 months after I "officially" graduated, so November.

But you still owe for college, right?  You've deferred those loans.

I've been paying them during the times I have had a job.

I'm still paying on that loan.  I've still got quite a while on those left, probably 5 years plus whatever the payments and time frame will be for the CADD loans.

I hope once I finally get a job, that I'll be able to 1) take my finances back over and 2) eventually continue with the snowball that I was doing in 2013 with my debt.

Right now, I need something.  Even if it is a call center.

Are there no other jobs in Oklahoma but call centers? I just don't understand why you keep going back to them and getting fired each and every time.

There are other jobs out there and I apply for them, but I haven't gotten a bite on my applications recently.

To be fair, this last time was a mistake on my part by allowing a new prospective employer to call my current employer.  I was in good standing there, otherwise, and liked the job.  I'm not going to make that mistake again.

What about retail or something?  Do call centers pay that much more than department stores, for example?  I honestly have no idea.  Or is any job that would involve standing up a no go?
