How come Bushie eats exclusively at chain restaurants? I feel like he's trying to name drop them all the time. Applebee's. Barnhill's. On the Border. Cracker Barrel. Denny's. IHOP. Don't they have non chains in Oklahoma?

Update is brought to you by the aforementioned chain restaurants.  That's why Bushie never actually works.  He's just paid to write Update by those sponsors, and that gives him just enough $ to survive.

When Bushie temporarily locks Update, it's because of a pay dispute with his sponsors.  He likes to go on strike from time to time, to keep them on their toes.

It all makes sense now..

Update doesn't make the chains look good though. Maybe lots of indy places got together and sponsored the Update to make the chains look bad.

How does it not make them look good?  Bushie is the perfect representative of their target demographic.  He loves the chains so much that he keeps going back to them, and talks about that regularly here.

The chains won't care that Update also includes some weirdos who talk about eating more healthy food.  I guess those people are like the evil foil for our hero, Bushie.  They're the losers who will take "Brand X" over the product being advertised.

J-Mann makes a great point and Bushie once again ignores it.

I assume the reason he keeps going back to call centers is because he isn't physically able to handle a retail job. Otherwise, I don't get it. It's always been an Update mystery to me considering he has failed at them each and every time. If a call center had actually been a career option, Bushie wouldn't have gone back for CADD.

He said numerous times that the reason for CADD school was so he could stop trying and failing at call centers! It doesn't make a lick of sense.

I can't really stand up for that long.  I would if I absolutely had to, but most retail jobs require being on your feet for nearly the entire shift except lunch.  With my weight, it puts a lot of pressure on my knees, ankles, and feet that it makes my feet start hurting in a fairly short amount of time.  I know the weight is a correctable issue, but for right now, I have a very hard time standing up for 6-8 hours a day.

Remember, I'm still expecting a call from a CAD job either tomorrow or Tuesday and that may very well have a job offer behind it.  If it does, then you better believe I'm going to take it.  If it doesn't, well, at least I have a good job waiting for me.

Then why did you sound like you were open to retail jobs in these previous posts, simply saying that you can't find many of them?  You said that you were looking for them, just as you were other jobs.  What changed?

I can't find too many retail jobs.  I keep looking for them, just as I am for other jobs, just can't find too many.

Those are included, but I just put in for a computer job - not a CAD(D) job, but an E-Commerce/Computer Science job that I went to college for.  Most of the time, it is customer service, clerical, technical support, and CAD(D).  I do look at the retail job side of craigslist, too.

Are call centers the only low skilled job in the world that involves sitting down?  Surely there must be others.

The SBC doesn't require any official licensure. They let individual churches decide for themselves.

I did look for retail jobs and I would be open to them, but I prefer not to have them because of my weight issues.  At the time I said that, I was desperate for a job.  Now that I have a job, I'm seeing things in an entirely different light.

I don't think you quite understand the plight of the American worker, mate.

In most jobs, Mr. Boss Man likes to ensure that all his toilers are standing on the feet for the duration of the shift.  Usually the given reason is the asanine, "I'm not paying you to sit down!".  But we all know the real reason is the pain reminds the poor of his/her lowly position in society all the while giving management the pleasure of seeing those below them in pain.

Obviously a well-rested worker will be more productive and happy when the time comes to actually accomplish a task at the job, but we all know that the aim of well-established capitalism is not to produce but to extend the gap between the haves and have nots.

I've seen obese people work at Wal-Mart. Part of equal opportunity employment is to make jobs accessible to a handicap.

While I don't condone your sloth, I'm sure you could have a stool to sit on as a cashier.

He could do it, but for whatever reason, he keeps going back to the call centers, where he will inevitably get fired once again.

Remember, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results...

There's one Walmart in my area where there's this one severely obese woman working there who basically rides around the store in one of their mobility scooters and only briefly stands up when she needs to arrange stuff on shelves. Surely Jeff could handle that.

Also, have there been any walks (perhaps with your "no excuses" walking buddy pastor)? Have there been a lot of naps?

Guys, I'm done with Update for a while.  I'm getting frustrated with several things, so instead of blowing up, I'm going to lay low on the Update for a while.  I will continue to talk on the rest of the forum, just no Update for a while.  I'm not going so far as to say I'll never post here again, but for a while, I'm taking an Update break.

The irony being that a job that has him walking about for 6-8 hours a day would actually the best move for his health.
