I walk into an ESPN, Cooking channel, UFC discussion.  We've done nothing since I've been here...

WTF kind of job is this?  Seriously, will you even get a paycheck?

I'll get paycheck #1 tomorrow.  My training class is kind of stuck right now.  We have covered all the training material, but we won't get all of our logins until the end of this week, meaning we won't get on the phones until next Monday, most likely.  So, right now, the trainer has to scrounge for stuff to do.  This leads to most of the day goofing off.  Sometimes we role-play or side-jack with some of the inbound agents, but that doesn't help a whole lot because we will be exclusively outbound at least to start with.  I would complain, but it is free money that I'm making.  I wish there were more material we could go over, but we used all that up by the middle of last week.

I know.  THE LUCK HE HAS SOMETIMES!  But if I know Bushie, a few weeks into this thing he's going to up and quit because of some misguided moral qualm with getting paid to d*ck around all day.

Sounds too good to be true. He'll be terminated the first day on the phones when he's unable to make any sales. This happens to him all the time at these call centers.

You say that as if it is some sort of justification for you missing. In 2 months (if that), it won't really matter that Billy Sue had as many call offs as you, because the end result will be that both you and Billy Sue are unemployed.

I'm not saying this as a matter of self-justification, or maybe I am.  Missing 3/4 of a day is certainly missing 2 days or more.   Everyone there has at least 1.5 missed days, and in some cases 2-3 full days.  Though not confirmed, I believe three ladies have quit by missing 5 days already.  I certainly don't want to miss any more, but I'm not in any danger at the present time.

It's not a scam and is not a draw system.  What will happen is I will compete against the other 11 agents.  The top 5% will get $6.00/hr more than the base.  The next 5%, $5.00;  then it goes down from there.  The top 70% will get at least 25 cents an hour additional.  Only the bottom 30% won't get anything.
