He likes planning to do something and announce said plan... he's just incapable of following through on them and requires his parents to save him and says it's God's will, which absolves him of any kind of personal responsibility.

They have no website or anything? This sounds bad. Oh boy.

I think they're just a new company.  I saw a website that was under construction.

If I were you... every time someone just interviews you without questions or reservations, Google "*insert company name* and scam" just to be sure... ad through craigslist, no web presence of any kind...

Just to clarify, one needs not have a job, only giving the impression of looking for one, to ask a father, but one does need a job to ask the woman? Just trying to get a grasp on the social customs of Oklahoma.

I really wouldn't bother...

Who wants bet that if Papa Allison says "yes" that Bushie will ask Allison almost immediately (job or no job)?

I'll give him a week max before he asks her. He won't be able to contain it.

It will happen on the Fourth! Cheesy Did Bushie seek permission from any of his 3 previous fiancees' fathers?

I did (sorta).  Fiancee's 1 and 3 had no father, so I had to ask the mother.

Am I the only one who loves this?

From what I've gathered, the standard practice amongst almost everyone I know who's married is to ask, and then after they say yes let their parents be the first people to know they got engaged. I've never once heard of someone asking the other person's parents first. Also what if the woman asks?

This is Oklahoma, she doesn't want to be burnt at the stake.

Will you be dieting this weekend or will you be eating a lot of grilled hamburgers because it's the American thing to do?

It's the Fourth of July... it's one of the 165 days a year where Bushie cannot be expected to deny himself.

On the topic of the poll... does anyone else notice that when there is no update, the numbers get quite close, 53-47-ish, but when update comes back... it blows out to 56-43/57-42 of those who don't miss this.

You guys are funny.  He just wants me to establish myself in a job before I propose.

Did you say that you wanted to establish yourself in a job before proposing and he agreed with you?  Or was he the one to bring that up?

He brought it up initially and I agreed with him.

Yup - that sounds like he wants you to get your act together... that is longer than six-weeks, before he'll sign over the papers, or however this stuff happens in Oklahoma.

The irony being that a job that has him walking about for 6-8 hours a day would actually the best move for his health.

Again, this is Bushie all over. He loves announcing his 'plans'... but, where is the follow through?

Same thing with weight, if he was serious - he'd throw EVERYTHING out of his pantry and fridge, everything. And start fresh, if his parents genuinely supported him, they should be helping by cooking healthier foods to not give him an excuse to get out of it "Well, she cooked it, so I can't be rude" or "it's a holiday". Again, note he plans to go shopping for healthier food, buy weights, buy walking clothes... you don't need specialist equipment to go for a walk. Comfortable shoes, consideration for the weather and some water... that's it.

And do not get me started on 'diet soda' - the sweeteners in those things are TERRIBLE for you and they cause virtually the same reactions in the body as sugar (including diabetes).

You're clearly not working at it... you've gained 50lbs.

I gained a lot weight during a period of ... darkness in my life. But lost all of it and then some. How? I didn't make excuses, I just made a decision and knew the consequences of not taking action. I do understand it's not easy, but getting dejected so easily suggests you need to seriously get your act together. You're not the only person who has needed to lose weight. There's nothing special about your mindset...

Just start walking... 20 mins, 30 mins, 45 mins, build up to an hour... it's all about FOLLOWING THROUGH.

Cut the crap and just do it.

I have gained a lot of weight over the past five years, heck I've gained a lot of weight over the past 13 years.  I was a normal weight in my high school senior picture.  Do you think I'm proud of where I'm at?  Not at all.  I can't change it all by morning, I have to work at it, slowly but surely.  That's what I intend to do.  I know there is absolutely nothing I can say to change your minds tonight, and probably you guys will NEVER be happy no matter if I lose 100 lbs.  You'll still find something to gripe at.  That said, just let me do it.  It will take time, just let me do it.  Don't keep pounding me in the head multiple times every single night.  Hold me accountable, yes, but don't keep beating me over the head in post after post after post.

Don't give me that...

I don't normally post in here, but why would a call center job necessitate getting up to get ready at 5:30 AM?

I'm sure Bible study, overall 'prep' time is involved.

I don't why it's our job to congratulate you on poor life choices?

This really seems bizarre... "training" that involved hours of sports talk and no description of exactly whAt you are doing?

Hands up anyone that would stay in that room for more than an hour?

If anything, perhaps all the discussions about the cooking channel will help Bushie learn how to cook without assistance!

And he never told us what all he ate this weekend Sad

You cannot expect him to eat well when there's all of this excitement.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I don't get decent food for a while, usually due to travelling etc, I feel dreadful.

... so again, Bushie, your diet is probably the one making you sick.

My employer earned big points with me today by paying me exactly what they promised me.  That's not a light thing in my book.  It should be a no-brainer,  but with my job history is actually a remarkable feat.  I'm still going to look for another job, but this makes me want to work as hard as I can for the time I'm there.

They earned big points for not violating labor laws?

lol. That was exactly what I thought when I read that.

Yup... I mean, not f***ing him over and obeying the law is the new standard of good employers?

Yeah, it should be common place for them following the law, but all I'm saying is that with my recent places of employment who did not pay me what they promised, it is not a light thing.

It's just relative... the others were terrible and this lot are just doing what they're obliged to do

Quite frankly, this is the best thing Bushie's parents have done for him in years.
