A lot of politicians seem to think reddit as a strong liberal community that would be favorable to all the ideals of the Democratic Party but I think it's more libertarian than liberal most of the users are males between 18-29 so the ideal group that appeals to libertarianism. Some staffer probably told him this was a way to reach out to young liberal millennials.

Uh, r/politics is like the left's version of Breitbart.
Politics on Reddit is very polarized; you have the Ron Paul fanatics and libertarians on one side, and Elizabeth Warren/Bernie Sanders fanboys on the other.
Either way, most of them are neckbeard types that any serious politician shouldn't take seriously. They're just as bad and reactionary as die hard Fox News viewers.
