Yep, I am bored. So far, and with the election coming in less than two months, we only have Sirnick and Snowstalker as formal candidates for the presidency, with Governor DemPGH opening a exploratory committee and Senator Tyrion choosing not to run. Taking into account a Generic Federalist candidate as well (I had people like Riley or Scott in mind, but I choose to leave it as Generic), who would get your vote? Do you want someone else to run for President?

DemPGH would get my vote in this scenario.

If he runs, Governor DemPGH will have my vote. There's no other plausible candidate who has maintained a better record or who shows as much promise.

This about sums up my opinion on the matter. DemPGH would make a fine President.

An encouraging result at the outset - thanks to those offering support.

I'd vote for me. Wink

I plan to ease back into the national discussion in the near future and we'll see how it goes. I've commented on the dolphin protection bill, which I fully support, but of course we have some big issues to deal with, like healthcare.

It's tough. Obviously my initial instinct would be to vote for SirNick, who was a fine Governor and would probably make a good President (and he has a great running mate), but DemPGH is the best governor in Atlasia, and one of the best governors I've seen in years and is the single person most responsible for getting the Pacific back on track, so he'd probably get my first preference. My concerns would be mainly over our radically different views on various far-left Labor policies, but I'm confident enough that the Senate would reject anything too extreme.

I'm backing DemPGH as I said but Sirnick, who I've been close to for some time, will get my second preference.

Is making the cool cat comment twice in a row tacky?

Results:

Former VP and Governor DemPGH (Lab) - 38.1%
Generic Federalist (Fed) - 31%
Former GM and Governor SirNick (TPP) - 23.8%
Former Senator Snowstalker (Left Front) - 2.4%
Other/Write-in - 2.4%
None of the above - 2.4%

Well, it seems the Duke Party System (that resulted in two powerful landslides) will finally come to an end after the Presidential Elections of October 2013 and February 2014. With only 42 voters it's hard to point out how large the leads really are, but it seems Former Vice-President DemPGH is on the road to a comeback after his defeat in the Labor Convention and a fourth place result in the October Election, with most of Labor seeming enthusiastic and supportive of his potential second run. Alas, there is room for the Federalists (there has been talk of Riley, Scott and other officeholders as potential candidates) to overcome DemPGH, and the same could be said of SirNick and Dallasfan, who seem likely to take the center and many independents. Snowstalker gets a single vote, but I wouldn't be surprised if he got a high result (like 5-7%) in the first round, specially after picking Oakvale as his running mate (thus burying speculation of a "dream team").

It's hard to tell if we are going to get more candidates, but between this and a competitive Senate election in the Northeast, we have an interesting election cycle in our hands for the next month!

Does the Federalist Party actually intend to nominate a ticket? I was under the distinct impression that they plan to sit this one out.

Well, they do seem to lack an immediate frontrunner (Matt would have an interesting option, if he hadn't retired), but they have a good amount of options. I would be quite surprised if they sat this one out, specially considering that there's no real favourite to win despite DemPGH's slight advantage.
