Yeah, but Detroit actually does have some nice neighborhoods, like Downtown or some of the ones on the outer edges. If it were Camden or something, yeah, but Detroit is a bit more diverse than that.

Detroit.

Seriously people way overblow the threats of "high crime" urban areas. I've walked through some of the worst parts of Minneapolis at night while rather intoxicated and have never ran into any danger. A bit creeped out no doubt but geez some here seem to think Detroit is the equivalent of Sarajevo circa 1993.

Detroit's economy only sucks if you're middle aged and have worked in a factory your whole life. Youngs looking for jobs like IT help desk or at an Apple Store (which pays FAR better than most retail) probably don't have it much more difficult than most places.

Lovely sentiment, but no, it has a lousy economy across the board. People with sufficient skills can work almost anywhere, but places like Detroit make it all the harder, not to mention deflates wages when there are so many people hungry for work.

That should probably be read as that I personally could get a decent job easier in Detroit than Forsyth.

Think of the type of jobs Bushie keeps getting but bombs at and gets fired. If you can do them, they're not terrible jobs, the pay is livable if you don't have kids and low expenses, and there's usually plenty of overtime and bonus opportunities anyway. There's still plenty of those type of jobs around Detroit. In Forsyth you need to be very specially skilled, get used to an hour commute, or work part time a gas station.

Detroit, duh. I'm across the street from campus right now, living in a run down Fraternity House with a flooded basement and (when I'm not working) scrimping money together to get beer and oven pizza. Time of my life. I can't imagine doing that in any state in the South. Eugh.

Yes, cheap beer, pizza and frats are indeed a Northern phenomenon.

Heh. The South barely matches my mood or taste for weather, and I value being a conceited Northerner (conceited Southerners are so passe). In any case, I don't live in the South, and I have an automatic bias towards whatever my current predicament might be, so I chose Detroit. And I'm not necessarily getting cheap beer.

After all the horror stories that some of our red GA avatars have told about Forsyth County, easy Detroit vote here.  EASY DETROIT VOTE.

I mean really, I'd rather get shot.

Seriously is living in a condo in downtown Detroit worse than living in a sprawling mass that requires driving to get anything?

Detroit. It's not appealing, but it's better than the alternative.
