Yes.

I don’t think self-expression should be dictated by the sexually anorexic. Whatever medium pornography has been expressed in, from clay, to sculpture, art, photography, film, grainy video or online clip there's always been people who don't like pornography for pornography's sake. 'But don't you see' apparently it's screwing with the young generation now, just as the two minute took-ages-to-load videos screwed with mine, the magazine screwed my dads and the erotic peepshow screwed with my grandfathers.

Yes (normal, gay).  However, any posting of pornographic videos or images wherein one party might not consent of be aware (I.e. Revenge porn) should be illegal, as should any and all porn that depicts rape and/or bestiality.

what do you mean by 'depicts rape'?
I was wondering the same thing.  Sure, video of an ACTUAL rape shouldn't be allowed.....obviously, but "fake" rape?  I don't know.  Do you want to ban depictions of rape in film, video games, TV shows and books?  It's not my bag, but if some potential rapists doesn't rape because he yanks it to fake rape porn, seems like a win to me.

But I'm with you on the bestiality, until we can get consent from the horse, dog, donkey, etc, it's rape....and even then I'm not so sure.  You could get consent from the mentally disabled lady down the street, but you probably shouldn't.

What's your opinion? And if illegal, how do you enforce it, and what are the penalties, meted out to whom, when?

I've asked anti-abortion people that for years about abortion. I never get a response.

Yes(I'm not a psychotic)

Having sex with someone who is determined to be incompetent is rape.

It should be neither. For an action to be legal or illegal implies the existence of a law which allows or prohibits it.

There shall be no law governing this. Who ever is an adult and wishes to make a porn, make it. Who ever is an adult, or whose parents consent to watching porn, should be free to watch it.

So particular pieces of porn can be illegal, but not because it is porn.

Yes, why shouldn't it?

Besides, enforcing it would be as much of a failure as the war on drugs. Google Images can be a porn sight if you really want it to be.

in general I'll echo Lief, porn really can fck with the head, particularly with the male head, but any attempt to regulate it with guns and policemen and etc is somewhere between hapless and hopeless.
If the scenario is one of rape.  Even if the porn actress has consented, if rape is the premise, it should be illegal.

Why? If a women consents to participate in a rape scene, why shouldn't she be allowed to do what she wants with her body? Do you want to ban rape scenes in movies and video games as well?

Seriously. What about things that are rape-like, like BDSM? Should that be illegal in porn? Illegal in real life?

If the character the woman is playing has consented to be tied up/etc., then fine.  But to allow people to get sexual pleasure from a rape scenario (which is what separates it from a rape scene in a movie) is not acceptable and inadvertently encourages it.

Again, by that logic you'd have to ban that in real life.

Basically, if and only if, you are filming a crime and propagating it should it be able to be made a crime to propagate it to adults.

I actually find it surprising that a massive majority of the forum holds the sane position on this question, personally.

Of course it should be legal. It's why there is a ratings system and a reason for the ratings. I can't think of a remotely good reason why it shouldn't be legal.

As far as rape gapes, there are fairly graphic rape scenes in "good movies," like A Clockwork Orange, and that movie was made in the early '70s. The scenes are necessary to the statements about society and so forth that the movie makes. Should they be banned? No, of course not.

Should porn be legal?

This may be a bit of a strawman, but I'll go ahead and ask: what is the difference between pornography and prostitution?

Anyways, yes, porn should be legal (normal)

Of course (normal).

Prostitution has more health consequences than pornography. Also, a picture of a naked woman only needs to be taken once, and then put in Playboy/Internet/etc. People can then buy/sell/download it without any further action by the woman.

It's not as much of an open-shut case as prostitution (which should obviously be legal, especially if one supports legality of pornography), but it's pretty apparent that far more harm results from banning it than allowing it.
