Well? Not based on politics, although that may play in because of the culture and laws.

Montpelier or Boston for me, depending on what stage of my life I am in.

Same, lol.

Boston has one of the best mayors in the country who is a good role model for people who are trying to overcome alcoholism.  I guess I"m a little biased in that regard.

Out of the capital cities I've visited, Annapolis is the nicest.

Columbia and Raleigh are the only two I'd consider based on their climate, size, and proximity to both coast and mountains.

A lot of State capitols are quite desirable actually. I would love to live in Boston, Madison, Austin, or Olympia, and a lot of the others wouldn't be too bad.

Tallahassee. I'll probably stay there for the rest of my life (which means I'll live in Virginia or Wisconsin since I am saying that at the impressionable age of 18 Tongue).

They do usually seem to be better than the state as a whole. Sacramento is an exception, though.

Forgot to mention...JACKSON!

The White parts of East Jackson are rather uppity.  People who live there look and sound like the folks in The Help.

Also, I forgot Denver but it is rather nice, and Baton Rouge is as well.  So my list so far would be, ranked:

1)  Boston
2)  Austin
3)  Jackson
4)  Baton Rouge
5)  Nashville
6)  Denver

Unquestionably Boston.  St. Paul is an easy second place, then it gets tougher.

Same.  Madison and Austin are cool towns.  Atlanta might be nice if you lived in Intown portion.
