Thus is the price of being an elected Democratic politician. I'm sure Obama will have to endorse the Clintons, too. Unfortunate but inevitable.

Corrupt, scheming neoliberal crook. The good people of Chicago will rightly throw him out of office in due time.

Awful HP. Him and Cuomo might be the very worst. Given the choice I'd prefer Kucinich or Sanders over either.

Corrupt, scumbag HP. He will not survive his next election challenge in Chicago and I would advise him to not pursue political office thereafter.

This is actually one of his few redeeming features.

I don't like what he's done as Mayor of Chicago, but he played a major role in the Democrats winning the House in 2006.  As a result, I'm inclined to give him more of a pass than I otherwise would.

He's been a good mayor, so FF there. Anywhere else HP.

Me thinks you people set too high of a bar for Chicago mayors.

We expect them to at least somewhat abide by the will of the people. Daley may have been corrupt, but policy-wise he did what he was sent there to do. Rahm has waged a war on workers, which, let's just say is not popular with nearly anyone that voted for him.

Did he? I'm no expert, but I remember most of Rahm's handpicked candidates losing, while Dean's 50 state strategy is what won us the House.

Kind of a reluctant FF when he was the leader of the House Democratic campaign in 2006 and later as Obama's right hand man. Kind of sleazy and all, but effective and our sleazy guy.

But as mayor: Unquestionable HP. Which is how I voted.

He did, both Dean and Emanuel made very significant contributions.  Sure, some like Steve Filson and Andrew Horne fizzled out and others like Tammy Duckworth narrowly lost.  However, he also recruited folks like Heath Shuler, Harry Mitchell, Ed Perlmutter, Brad Ellsworth, Gabrielle Giffords, Ron Klein, Jason Altmire, Steve Kagen, etc.  Additionally, Emanuel was far better at messaging on a bad day than Dean was on his best day.  Both were critical to the Democrats retaking the House.
