Person A is a Prussian Junker circa 1935. He was a landed elite with the traditional 'von' appellate added to his name under the Wilhelmine Reich, but was dispossessed by the Polish with the coming of the Weimar Republic. He loathed the Republic and voted for the Nationalists under Hugenberg, but has also grown to despise the Nazi Party and the "Bohemian corporal" leading it. The elimination of the 'baraarous' SA under Roehm mollified him somewhat, but he still holds the rabble-rousers in contempt.

Person B is a Republican voter from rural Arkansas in 2014. He lives in a trailer and draws food stamps. He deplores the Democratic Party for its 'elitism', and often feels resentful of upper-scale liberals. He regards the GOP as being in tune with people like him.

Are these two things the same thing?

Person A is definitely a social conservative, and quite ideological about it.

Person B seems less ideological than simply resentful. False consciousness sounds more apt in his description than anything else.

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

They could both be described that way, sure, but they're obviously not the same thing because the society and subgroup of that society relative to which they're conservative is so different.
