Thank you Mr. Speaker,

I proposed this bill after learning that unpaid interns are not protected by the same anti-discrimination provisions as regular employees, as they aren't technically actual employees of the company. The only state irl that provides equal protection for interns is Oregon. I believe that all of the Northeast's laws and ordinances meant to protect employees should also be equally applied to interns.

Also, thanks to Governor Dallasfan for helping me iron out this bill.

The situation in the article you posted had nothing to do with anti-discrimination laws. That article was talking about a sexual harassment law.

Sexual harassment is considered a type of sex based discrimination

Based on that description I don't think I can support these laws at all, much less applying them to unpaid interns. It doesn't really make sense to treat sexual harassment as a form of sex-based discrimination. Sexual harassers should be punished for their actions (ie, the act of sexual harassment itself), not whatever sexist motivation may or may not have been going through their head at the time they committed the crime. Same reason I oppose hate crime(s) legislation. Furthermore, as a supporter of free speech I can't support making it illegal for sexist jerks to make dumb comments.

Finally, would this bill apply to just Regional anti-discrimination laws or State and local laws as well?
