Kanye (middle name: West) if it's a boy, Khaleesi if it's a girl, Jeff Jr. if it takes us a few weeks to figure out the sex.

Come GUYS, you're acting like you'll have any say in what your offspring are called.  If you're lucky you might get to veto a name or two.

True. Honestly as long as I don't have a girl who my wife wants to give the name of someone I've slept with, I don't really care.

Interestingly enough I would've been a Cameron if my mom had her way.

My preferred girl name is Hazel, after my paternal grandmother, who was adored by all.  However, if it's still "available" when it comes time for me to have kids, and if my husband likes the name, I'd consider checking with any living descendants of hers (except for my dad's brother, if he's still alive, whose opinion doesn't particularly matter to me) to make sure it's "okay".  I also like Harriet, Eleanor, and Nora.

Boy names?  I still have no idea.  Probably "Patrick" thrown in as a middle name as a nod to my brother and his future wife.  William?  Asher?  Theodore?

Well, at least we know your kids will have plenty of Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy*hughughugs*Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy .

Ha! I already got to name our first child, first and middle name too! She has a hyphenated last name, but that was my choice too (but my partner would've chosen that too).

Of course that means that I won't be able to name our second child Tongue

So then every name's a go, I see.  Tongue

It's already been decided in my case and of the 10 names I listed, 7 were mine and 3 were hers.

Names thrown around for me were Isabella and Gabriela if I were born a girl; the top two boy names were Gabriel and Julian (the former won out).

idk, not the prissy and neo-victorian sounding stuff parents are going with now though. i have to admit i find that annoying. particularly the names ending in an -an, -en or -on that parents seem to be obsessed with: madison, kaden, jaden, ethan, etc.

also "normal" names that are spelled in a weird way. stop it.

You think those -an, -en, -on names sound neo-Victorian? I have to say I can't really see it. 'Ethan', maybe, but I don't think that's really comparable to the others. 'Ethan' is a perfectly cromulent Hebrew name.

i was thinking more stuff like olivia, noah, elliott, oliver, xavier, etc. the similar sounding names ending in consonants is sort of an overlapping trend. in some cases it wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for the overuse of certain names admittedly. i guess i have sort of a bias towards names from the mid 20th century

My first child I'd like to name after my great-grandfather, who was Gregory Israel, so I suppose that would be it. It would have to be something evocative of that if my first child was a daughter (Grace, perhaps), but I don't have a particularly strong opinion. Name preferences after that depend on which, God forbid, of my family members or close friends have died, since family tradition (and Ashkenazi tradition generally) is to name children after recently dead relatives.

This is definitely true as well.

I thought Jewish naming custom simply stated that you are not supposed to name your child after someone who is still alive. (This is verboten in Arab culture as well, but the logic behind it may differ.) I've also heard that if you want to make reference to a relative or a loved one in your child's name, you're supposed to give them a name that starts with the same letter, rather than giving them the exact same name.
