Hasn't this race been at tossup for a few weeks now?

WaPo interviews both candidates. Braley denies he ever threatened to sue his neighbor and says Ernst is far right, Ernst says he's arrogant and un-Iowan.

The Hill: NRSC makes $1.9M Iowa buy, and DSCC will spend $515K in ads. Apparently, both parties are shifting more resources to Iowa's Senate race now that Montana's is essentially off the map.

Ernst doubles down on Iraq logic, says she would have kept troops there.

I'm starting to become legitimately scared that someone this nuts has a good chance of being elected. And this is coming from someone who has a legitimate chance of being represented by a corrupt teabagger/socon next January.

Yeah, I thought it was the usual politician condescension. Nothing out of the ordinary.

She's getting coverage for this though:

And she's also getting (markedly less, but still a little coverage) heat for being an Agenda 21-er.

Braley needs to grow some balls and start painting her as the extremist she is. This isn't even Palin (though I have to admit thinking a premeditated shooting was an accident) - this is Bachmann-esque extremism. No more ads about the minimum wage, no more ads about anything else. If he can't show voters that she's Michele Bachmann with a pitchfork, then he'll lose.

It was good to see Ernst come out in favor of military justice reform - an issue I care a lot about.  Furthermore, for someone with such an extremist cred, it was truly interesting to hear her utter the word "compromise" when referring to crafting legislation in the Senate.  Encouraging, really.

FWIW, PPP is polling here over the weekend. Their last IA poll was in May.

Young takes a page out of "How to Talk to People Like Idiots" by Cathy McMorris-Rodgers in his latest ad and winds up being ineffective.

And Ernst made another Social Security gaffe. In the most shocking news of the cycle, Braley actually grew some balls and took advantage of it.

Yup. She's a nutjob. Unfortunately the press is too busy reporting fabricated stories about Braley and his neighbor's chickens to tell the people of Iowa this.
