A "Bring Back Coolidge" movement gains strength, and Hoover is persuaded to not seek reelection. The Convention selects Coolidge for President, and Ambassador and popular General Hanford MacNider for Vice President. Coolidge gives his support to Prohibition repeal, and reminds voters of the good economic times of the mid-1920s. However that only gets him so far, as many voters place a great deal of the blame for the Depression on his shoulders.
