What is the current legal status of growing marijuana?

Marijuana's currently legal in the Republic of Atlasia, but we don't have much of a regulatory framework about people communing to sell it.

If it'll pass muster with the Assembly, I'm open to striking Section 1, clause 2 outright - I was just concerned about what would pass at the time I wrote it.

I'll post a more detailed argument/explanation tomorrow about the bill as a whole tomorrow when I've got a clearer head.

It'll pass with me. I'd be supportive of striking section two and not bothering with limiting the amount a private party can grow. What are the federal regulations in regards to the legal sale of marijuana?

I support this, though I'm not sure we need to restrict the amount growers can cultivate.

Bit more lucid now, so I can go on in full detail. Smiley

OK, to answer the questions of Cynic and Deus, this is the current regulatory statute regarding marijuana. Unless I'm illiterate, the status is basically "treat it like tobacco."

However, people don't indulge in marijuana the same way that they do tobacco. So what I'm proposing is that rather than merely subjecting them to the same rules that are placed upon tobacco, we grant permits for Hempfests so that people can commune in regional parks and independent growers can sell their stuff.

Hempfests are actually a real thing in the United States, where marijuana is illegal. They're held under the pretext of political activism/demonstrations. While there may be political activism going on, it doesn't take much critical thinking to realize what's also going on.

I think that's great. However, we should recognize that fact and facilitate it, rather than have people run the risk of being considered 'loiterers' or what have you.

Also, @Nap and Cynic, if you want to remove the limits on growing, I'm absolutely fine with that.

I don't really see why we need to limit the amount of marijuana that can be sold, but besides that the bill has my support.

I just thought I'd introduce this amendment because it's unclear what the legal status of growing weed for non-recreational use(s) would be under the current bill.

By a vote of 4-0-0, with one Representative not voting, this bill passes and goes on to the Governor for his signature.
