This is the first time that the feds threw out a non-constitutional ban.

No stay and the AG isn't appealing.

The AG isn't appealing but doesn't the governor have the authority to?

It makes things easier even with us bot living here, especially as Michael still has to file his taxes. Plus he can feel a little less shameful of his state today Wink

You moving to Pennsylvania? I'm moving to California after Christmas to live with my boyfriend (who will be my husband soon after).

Yeah, good ruling. PA joins the rest of the N.E.

Ha, if Corbett would appeal I would laugh. It would be viewed as a colossal waste of time and money. I'm sure he'd love to appeal it, though.

Yes.  The AG didn't defend it, the Commonwealth's solicitor general did.

Incidentally the same judge that rejected "intelligent design" in the Dover case.

Not bad for a Bush appointee.

An appeal could be denied for lack of standing of the appellant.

By the time this gets into Appeals Court, the voters will have appealed Corbett.

Santorum supported the judge who struck down the marriage ban.

Haha...

As governor, he likely has standing.  Not 100% certain, but he likely does since unlike in Oregon, there was a defense presented in this case.

It's really over at this point. There's way too many precedents, and judges are no longer afraid to make the ruling. I'm expecting gay marriage normalized in about 40 states by 2015, with about 10 states still fighting and tying it up in court. I doubt the Supreme Court will make a decisive ruling besides smacking down any explicit discriminatory laws and amendments like they did with Prop 8, but it'll become nationwide sooner rather than later.

Wasn't the judge selected/nominated by Santorum?
