This is a tough one for most Republicans, I know, but answer it.

I really can't think of anything.  Could you summarize your views, or if you already have somewhere, provide a link?

School prayer- shouldn't be organized but ACLU does go too far. I believe that students do have the right to open a prayer at graduation- as long as the school staff isn't helping them plan it.

Here is a summary of BRTD's views:

Social

Abortion: pro-choice. I want it legal in the first trimester. After that I don't care about much restrictions as long as its legal for health reasons, and oppose waiting periods, notifications, and all that other junk. I'm not against the idea of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act but don't like it being passed with this Congress, plus just look at the name.

Gay rights: I'm 100% in favor of all gay rights and gay marriage, atlhough I'd rather just get marriage out of the government altogether. Civil Unions for everyone.

Gun control: I basically have Howard Dean's position. I'm happy with the current laws.

Death penalty: Strongly opposed.

School prayer: I'm against any organized prayer, but think the ACLU often goes too far. If the students themselves want to make some sort of religious reference in something like say a graduation speech, that's fine. Just don't have prayers over the intercom in the morning or anything like that.

Affirmative Action: Should be class, not race based.

Patriot Act: Repeal the damn thing

3 Strikes Laws: Not a bad idea in theory, but they get implemented poorly. Need serious reform. A better solution would be just to increase penalties on violent and serious offenders instead.

Prostitution: Legalize and regulate strongly. Ban pimping.

Gambling: Completely legalize

Drugs: I'm for legalizing pot. Everything else probably not, but we should focus on rehabilitation rather than imprisonment.

Strip Clubs: You already know

Economic

I'm basically a socialist. 100% pro-union. I support wage caps. I like the negative income tax idea. I'm completely in favor of universal health care. I'm very protectionist.

Foreign Policy

Very dovish. Want to gut the hell out of the military. We spend way too much. I obviously opposed the Iraq invasion. I hate both the Israeli and Palestinean leaders and think an independent Palestinean state is the best solution. I strongly opposed any trade with China, and support lifting the Cuban embargo.

_________________________________________

Surprisingly, there are a few things I agree with.

-Gun control - I agree that we should enforce the current laws rather than pass additional laws when we're not enforcing the ones we have.

-School prayer - Your approach seems like a common-sense one.  I don't really advocate organized prayer in schools, but I don't think any mention of God should be forbidden either.

-Affirmative Action - I have a nuanced approach to this because it's easier to discuss in theory than implement in the real world.  In theory, I favor affirmative action based on class rather than race, if at all.  I just don't know how it would be implemented.

-Crime - Increase penalties for serious and violent offenses.

I disagree with your other positions to one degree or another, for the most part.  I don't really view strip clubs as a political issue, so I leave that out.  I was surprised to even find 3 or 4 issues where I agreed with you.  I thought I'd be lucky to find 1.

Reading through what Dazzleman posted, I agree with you on abortion, gay rights, school prayer, 3-strikes laws, and drugs.

I agree with you on most social issues, though you are less liberal than I.  Not so much on economic issues though, as I'm pretty far to your right.

I agree with you on almost everything.
What do you mean by the ACLU goes too far?
I'm think I'm slightly more libertarian than you, but the compass sayss I'm more liberal. How come I have a more liberal score on economic issues?

Simple, they go too far.  Only knee-jerk liberal organizations like the ACLU believes that stickers in science textbooks saying evolution is a "theory, not a fact" is an invasion of religious freedom.  And their support for federal funding of abortions while opposing school vouchers makes no sense whatsoever.

That said, the ACLU is good for some things.  While they have a perverse and biased definition of religious freedom they have defended many churches and religious organizations that want to use public parks or property to hold meetings or baptisms.  They are fully against the Patriot Act, with good reason.  Their opposition to the death penalty is admirable.

But they still go too far.  Getting back to school prayer, it seems like the ACLU will sue a school if kids are allowed to say the word "God" under any context whatsoever.

My problem with the ACLU is they basically seem content with banning all religious expression in public schools, while stuff organized by the school is obviously innapropiate, I don't see anything wrong with PERSONAL expressions.
