Breaking News: RR1997 Announces a Midwest Senate Bid Against Incumbent Senator TNF.

Welcome citizens of the Midwest Region.

Today I am announcing my candidacy against Senator TNF for the Midwest Regional Senate.

I seek this office because I believe that I truly represent the interests of the Midwestern people better than Senator TNF does. I am a principled man, who believes in freedom, liberty, efficient government, and compromise, which can appeal to both sides of the aisle. Senator TNF on the other hand is a "true leftist" extremist, who doesn't act accordingly to the wishes of the the citizens of the Midwest.

Now this won't be easy. Senator TNF is considered "unbeatable" by some, but that is simply not true. We can do it! Remember that your vote does matter! Your vote does make a difference, and I ask for your vote. Together, we can defeat Senator TNF!

Let's begin campaigning!

I believe this is the relevant clause in the constitution:

RR1997's account will be more than 60 days old by the time of the election, and he can easily get to 200 posts by then.  Why can't he run?

Hello fellow Midwesterners,

Let me first start out by saying that my campaign is back!

The main theme of this campaign will be renewal and change. I am running as an Atlasian outsider against the Labor Party establishment candidate Senator TNF. I provide a new face to Atlasia, and also a new, sensible ideology. We shall build a coalition, based on my fellow Federalists, centrists, and centre-left Laborites who dislike some of Senator TNF's extreme proposals.

Some of Senator TNF's extreme proposals include The Public Ownership Act of 2014. This bill turns privately-held entities, like fuel companies, power companies, transportation companies, iron companies, and steel companies into publicly-held hands. That's insane! Almost everyone has to agree with me that the bill goes way to far. Now I'm not a "muh free markets" type of person by any chance, since there is no such thing as a "free market",  but I have the common sense to realize that the government can't afford this, unless we raise taxes. Even on hard-working, poor and middle class families, which I promise I won't do if elected.

More to come soon. Most likely on Saturday.

I hope every Midwest citizen has a wonderful Summer!

Except that the bill doesn't even begin to raise taxes and it would likely pay for itself because of all the revenue the acquisition of that sector would cause.

Nice try though.

Glad to see this campaign back off the ground. I hope you prove my earlier statement wrong, and if you don't win, please try to run for Midwest office at some point.

I don't think people realized just how long away the election was. I know several people have been shocked that it was as late as June 20th-22nd, but that is just the way the weeks fell this time. Typically, it is in the teens and I think most people assume there was about a week or so remaining. I do worry that this attention might drop off and leave us with a dull (by comparison) situation by the last week.

Good morning fellow Midwesterners,

Today, I would like to make a small statement on the Demilitarization Act of 2014 which is sponsored by Senator TNF. I'm opposed to this bill because I believe that the military has the right to advertise and recruit people from high school and college campuses if the student wants to join. I mean, the student isn't forced to join, it's only voluntary. Also programs like the ROTC helps people who is considering a military career prepare for that career.

My fellow Midwesterners,

This is it. The election starts tomorrow, and you have two options for Midwest Senator. One of them is named TNF. TNF is a crazy, true-leftist. Do you really want a man like that to continue to represent your region? The other option is RR1997. RR1997 is a pragmatic Federalist, who can appeal to both sides of the aisle, and provides a new face to the senate. Now my chances of winning don't look so good right now, but we can do it if you go out to vote.

Say what you want about TNF, but at least he's constitutionally eligible for the seat

Bump!

I'm back!

Today, I am announcing my run for Althing. I believe that I will best serve the people of the Midwest. I provide a new face for the region, and I have a strong set of beliefs (that can appeal to both sides of the aisle) that I will lay out as the campaign unfolds. Feel free to ask me any questions/endorse me on this thread.

Sadly it looks like I have lost reelection, so I won't be serving in the Althing anymore. It was nice serving the great people of the Midwest. Hopefully I can get elected in another office sometime in the near future.
