I oppose adding Mexico to the North American common market and I also oppose removing all Atlasian troops from foreign soil as this would make us and our allies extremely vulnerable, though I would support scaling down the number.

I doubt that the central government can effectively plan food production over a large country like Atlasia with diverse regions, weather patterns, and populations. Assisting and educating farmers on proper techniques and methods would be the best way to go.

I'm skeptical of bringing unused farm land into public ownership, although farmers and commercial farmers should not allow large amounts of land to go unused, so perhaps there is another way to address this issue.

I agree with the previous comments suggesting that the climate and geography of the nation are simply too diverse to be adequately administered from a central authority.  The state should play some role in agricultural production, but regional governments must also play their part - perhaps with a guiding hand from Nyman.

I, like, DemPGH, am skeptical of complete planning administered by the federal government. Instead, I believe that regional governments should provide some basic planning, along with a program (like he has suggested), to educate and better train farmers.

I support bringing unused farmland under public ownership, but instead of refarming it, I would rather see this land returned to a natural state, via re-forestry or the like.

It appears that much of the momentum here has subsided (and with good reason - this convention has been running for two months), however, I believe many concerns raised with the platform have been addressed and any further issues can be further debated at the next convention.

Make that tonight. Sorry for the delay on this, it's just a pretty big document to wade through and make changes on. I will go ahead and release the results of the vote, though:

With 10 out of 10 votes, an executive summary is approved and will be added to the platform.
With 7-3 votes opposed, the industry section shall be revised. The planks calling for the nationalization of iron and steel and transportation, as well as the production for use plank, will be removed, as a majority of voters wish. No additional changes will be made, because no proposition for modification or clarification won majority support of 'no' voters.
With 6-4 votes opposed, the agricultural section shall be revised. I will compile the suggestions and revise accordingly.
With 6-4 votes in favor, the housing section is adopted as is.
Likewise, the Education/Leisure, Health/Children, Social Insurance, and Peace sections are all adopted as is, with majorities in support of each.
The game reform plank also passes unanimously, although the only provisions that garnered majority support are those calling for national referendums to adopt constitutional amendments and federal referendums.
