I assume we need a new Speaker? I'll run if everyone's okay with that.

There's no rule against it. Technically, the Lt. Governor is supposed to conduct the speakership election, but as there is no Lt. Governor (y'all really should abolish that office) it makes sense for you to assume that role.

I'm glad to see Darthebearnc stepping up to the plate - he's highly experienced, and I urge the Assembly to install him post haste.

With that, Darthebearnc is elected to the speakership. I leave this role to him.

We need a new Speaker, I have just asked Fmr. Assemblyman Hatman to rejoin us, but until then I would nominate VPH as Speaker.

Since it doesn't seem like anyone in the Assembly is interested in the speakership, I recommend that this chamber approve a resolution allowing the governor to act as Speaker for the time being.

After my own absence, I definitely see the need for this.

Why wasn't an election for the assembly held in March in accordance to regional law?

Well currently if you didn't notice, we have an activity problem. Most likely no one would run or one person would and I would be forced to be (begging and) reappointing the same people over and over again. If we were months away from the new ConCon ratification I would be much more forceful on elections, but considering the severity of our current situation, I decided to postpone it until the big cluster of elections that will be held after the ratification.

If you feel that it's cheating the system, sorry. I just don't see a point in holding elections for no one and then even if anyone runs it won't even matter.

By law it's required every two months. Since its May, your seat is up and should you deny the people that vote, I will take it that you want our regional government to be by your excutive fiat. That would constitute grounds for impeachment.

Perfectly fine. I actually did not deny the people a vote, I made an executive decision as the factoring in the activity of our region to postpone the elections. As I explained before, no one announced their candidacy, no one asked for elections, and no one was up in arms at this decision. This decision hinged on the fact that my seat nor will the assembly's matter in the next coming months, and due to the fact that I'd likely have to re-appoint the same people to the seat as no one was running.

If you feel I overstepped my bounds, fine. I would be more than willing to explain this to you in a debate. I look forward to this election.
