That now makes 3, out of over 200 House Republicans.

Four actually - Jolly, Hanna, Ross_Lehtinen, and now Dent. There will be more in the next Congress. It is kind of pathetic the number is so low, I agree. I will lobby Gibson to come on board when I get to Hudson. Smiley  He's just up the road in Kinderhook (which by the way is where the "K" comes from in "OK," for you trivia buffs out there). Kinderhook lacks the "edginess" of Hudson, so is not my cup of tea, but it is cute - so cute in fact that you almost literally want to kiss it. It is about 3 miles to the west of the pic in my signature.

I wonder how long it will be before some idiot on Fox calls Dent a two-faced RINO because of this.

Dent is one of the few decent House Republicans. Good for him.

To be fair, he was unopposed in the primary.

That's not helping his case at all.

And in the Senate, Mark Pryor (D-AR) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) are the only 2 opposed to SSM, but you could argue Mary Landrieu (D-LA) is, to given she backs LA's ban on it. John Walsh (D-MT) hasn't given his view on it, yet, but it seems he would be leaning towards supporting SSM.

Walsh supports it

First he supports abortion/stem cell research, then he comes out in favor of a minimum wage increase and now full equality! Cheesy And to think he actually voted for the Federal Marriage Amendment 8 years ago. Either our little Denty is growing up or we're starting to see a break from the establishment not only to make the party more accepting come 2016, but that it's common sense the right thing to support.

I definitely would have though Gerlach would have been first given his support for LGBT Hate Crimes and voting against the constitutional amendment, but hopefully he does it sometime before he leaves office. Fitzpatrick should be soon to given he's got to survive a tough re-election fight this year. Justin Amash, Walter Jones, Jeff Denham, David Valadao, Chris Gibson, Bob Gibbs, Mario Diaz-Balart, Joe Heck, Greg Walden, Pat Meehan, Frank LoBiondo, Leonard Lance, and Rodney Frelinghuysen could be among the next potential House Republicans to come out in favor of marriage equality. Collins will almost certainly be the 4th Republican in the Senate to do so followed by Heller and Hatch and I could see Burr, Toomey or Ayotte supporting it down the road to.

btw, among the "Democrats" who still oppose marriage equality in the House are:

John Barrow (D-GA), Bluedog Coalition Chair
Mike McIntyre (D-NC)
Jim Matheson (D-UT)
Nick Rahall (D-WV)
Sanford Bishop (D-GA)
Henry Cuellar (D-TX)
Pete Gallego (D-TX)
Filemon Vela (D-TX)
Bill Enyart (D-IL)
Dan Lipinski (D-IL)

I bet some of the Congressional Black Caucus opposes same-sex marriage, especially the older members.  I think Rangel falls into that camp.

Republicans aren't making much progress on this issue.

Today 0 out of 29 Republican governors support gay marriage.
In 2010, 1 out of 23 Republican governors supported it.

well at least some GOP governors are giving up their court appeals, although that mostly seems to be based on the futility of the legal fight.

This; as long as they don't use the term "marriage," then I support it, too.

Is there another term that gets across the whole "sacred institution" thing?

To be honest, the fact that Susan Collins has been avoiding the issue - even if she has had ample opportunity and little risk of backlash; makes me think that she personally opposes marriage and isn't prepared to endorse. Maybe I'm wrong.

I think Flake will be the next in favour. Hatch will wait until his last term to endorse.

No, and coming out for it earlier wouldn't have either - he was unopposed in the primary and the general.

Doesn't Texas Democrat Gene Green also oppose it?

Let's look at the bigger picture. If you look at motivational seminars, like those aimed at salesmen and small businessmen, Republicans far outnumber Democrats. When I see ads for "Zig” Ziglar's 3-day events, he has Rudy Giuliani, Tommy Franks, and other Republicans as speakers, in tune with his audience.
