Bravo to the GIs for defending our freedom and our way of life.

If you live in the United States and enjoy your freedom, thank a veteran.  They're the ones who fight for our freedom and our way of life.  Never forget that.

It is so weird how Americans tie their civic ideals to soldiers fighting in wars where none of those ideals are actually at stake. I really see zero connection for any war fought within the last sixty years.

>implying we're free

And yes, I don't see what threat was posed to American ideals by Hussein or Gaddafi or Noriega.

You forget capitalism is an American ideal.

The Iraq War was Cheney's handout to the oil barons. Simple as that.

I dislike the branded generations thing; very weird and very American in a bad way.

Though the generation that was young during the War was that of my grandparents, so I miss it and its strange habits immensely. They also voted at remarkably high rates, at least in this country.

I admire those who endured both the Great Depression and World War 2 but for reasons peculiar to the American left.

It's too bad most of them are dying out.
