It seems there's a lot of random stuff about plane crashes.

There was the House Majority Leader Boggs missing in 1972.

Ted Kennedy had previously been on a plane with fatal plane crash, and almost was on Wellestone's fatal flight.

Ted Stevens' second fatal plane crash got him.

Some other Congressmen like Jesse Helms were originally supposed to be on the flgiht that Larry McDonald died on.

So does this mean Rendell is considering running for President in 2016 now, or...?

Because Rendell is somehow relevant to the 2016 campaign?

He's certainly one of the biggest power/money brokers in the party, and while he may be a little old to be Hillary's top choice for VP, he's more relevant than 90% of the yahoos rolled out on that board.  And if Hillary didn't run....

Reminds me of how if a travel agent hadn't screwed up we wouldn't have had any of Seth MacFarlane's contributions to pop culture post-9/11. Now that'd be pretty tough to fathom and quite depressing too.

Look at it this way: No one would have ever heard of Sneakers O'Toole.

He's done nothing to indicate an interest in running, and there's nothing in the OP that explains what connection this might have to 2016.

Rendell could be a good VP pick for someone other than Hillary or Biden. For example Schweitzer/Rendell would be a good balance.

Mark Wahlberg was also scheduled to fly on Flight 11, but canceled at the last minute.

On a sad note....one of the co-creators of Frasier was on Flight 11 with his wife, along with the wife of Anthony Perkins.

Even if he was, it was a different time, even in Hollywood (where not much has changed, to be honest). If you were gay, you were pressured to marry a woman and keep up appearances. Stories of affairs with other men only really come up posthumously.

While I have not personally done the math, I really doubt its statistically significant. Big-name politicians fly very frequently, often on small aircraft. Small aircraft crash far more often than airliners. That over the span of decades a number of prominent political figures have died in airplane crashes should not surprise anyone. (If anything, I'm a little surprised that the US hasn't lost a president or vice-president to a helicopter crash yet.)

This, of course, assumes the plane would have still crashed had Rendell gotten on it. It depends on how exactly the crash happened.

Their son is musician Elvis Perkins. Some of his songs reference the notable deaths of each of his parents.
