I think it's time for the Northeast to reduce the number of seats from five to three so that the constant stream of northeast special elections can stop.

We've had enough players for a while, our turnover is just high. What we should do is allow the Governor to appoint a Representative without the need for a special election.

cinyc's name should appear as candidate on the special election ballot. He declared on January 18th.

Also the ballot says the election is for one seat. The Governor announced in his thread the special election would be to fill the two vacated seats.

This is absolutely correct.

Why did cinyc's name not appear on the ballot as a declared candidate?  We all know, generally, declared candidates whose names appear on the ballot do better than write-in candidates.

This is certainly a grave injustice to cinyc.  Perhaps this balloting should be redone.

Article II Section 5 of the Northeast Constitution

Candidates for Legislative Assembly will be given until the Wednesday preceding the first date of polling in the election they wish to contest to announce their candidacy and appear on the ballot. This is to be done by officially declaring his or her's candidacy in the Candidate Declaration Thread.

Yes, my name should be on the ballot.  I declared in the official declaration thread.  The Lt. Governor probably didn't know that when he made the ballot, which still incorrectly says that the election is for only 1 seat.
