Bribed their way into the World Cup and now are using slave labor to build the stadiums.

Obviously HP.

A ridiculous place. My brother got back from there and they are now banning shorts for men in that country even though its 110 degrees in there.

Having a hard time thinking of a country that so expertly combines everything I hate into one tiny, little convenient package.  And this includes North Korea.

Because of the World Cup?

I know much more about Dubai than I know about Qatar, though my impression is that Qatar is pretty much the same as Dubai in most respects. I don't like their disrespect for women, but I love their respect for technology, architecture, building the future and so on. It's a bit tricky, but I think they're generally a good force, and certainly compared to most other muslim countries.

They're close, but bribing for the World Cup kinda gives them that emotional push over the edge.

I hate slavery too, but it's worth considering that Qatar and the middle east are not unique for slavery:

It seems that Eastern Europe, to give one example, is just as bad as the middle east (if not worse).

This must be using a very, I'd go so far as to say uselessly, restrictive definition of slavery if only four per cent of the population of Mauritania is considered enslaved.

94% of Qatar's labor force is made up of foreign nationals.

I would say a good portion of those foreign workers are in a place between slaves and citizens.  They're serfs.

Sorry, Qatar, your support for the Libyan Revolution doesn't outweigh literal slavery.
