I liked it when I was there, but I was sad because the Enlightened won the event and it's basically their HQ for all of their Midwestern operations. Sad

Saturday in the Park is a pretty fun song.

But seriously, FC. The biggest city in the US that I like.

Also worth noting that I hear a hoodie with its flag on it because the band (The Lawrence Arms) is from there.

Along with DC (which isn't anymore northern than it is southern), I'd say Chicago is the only major urban area in the north that I could tolerate living in. I definitely want to visit someday.

Explain. Never thought I would see a Republican name those as their top two northern cities. Wink

DC is awesome; it's fairly small for a large city and makes walking an easy option (and I walk to places when the option is available). Plus it has a good folk music/bluegrass scene from what I’ve heard. I have a feeling that I’ll eventually live their (I’m hoping to find a Senator to attach myself too as a Chief of Staff or something). As for Chicago, well, it is just by far the best of a bad bunch; while I don’t ever intend to live there, I would much prefer it to Cleveland, Detroit, Minneapolis, or New York.

Best city in the world. Though, it's home, so I'm biased.

I met this girl when I was three years old
And what I loved most she had so much soul
She said, excuse me little homie, I know you don't know me- but,
My name is Windy and, I like to blow trees

The metro's sprawl is out of control, but it's a fun place to visit nonetheless. I can't imagine trying to actually live and commute there though. Bonus points for being very reasonably priced for a large city. But, to me, specific neighborhoods are more important. As with any city, certain areas are more charming/safe/whatever than others.

One of the greatest cities in the world, IMO, and certainly one of my favorites.  The crown jewel of the Midwest, along with Detroit. Smiley

As a Wisconsinite who hates/loathes Illinois, I love Chicago (minus the Bears, Bulls and Cubs)!

My kind of town, Chicago is. I love the place, and really enjoyed my five years there. However, its winters are a deal killer. Won't do Hudson winters either, unless I become mayor or something. My old bones can't take it anymore. They prefer heat!

We have Mayor Daley the Elder and his hands-on economic policy to thank for that. Not even using this as an opportunity to brag about a liberal success story (well, kinda). He was awfully corrupt, but while the rest of the Midwestern industrial cities were collapsing he put into place swift measures to keep the middle class intact. Today we are much bigger and much better-off than other Midwestern cities because of it.

I should clarify that when I say "bad bunch", I don't mean Chicag-when I say it is the best, I really mean it is the best city in that region of the country and among my favorites nationwide. It seems like a really awesome place, and I haven't met a person who doesn't like it.

As most of you could probably guess by now, I don't like most places in the northern half of country, so HC.

Heh. I prefer "25 or 6 to 4", personally. Too bad they went all soft rock in their later years. May they burn in Hell for that.
