"According to an early look at the Texas Republican Party's first draft of their 2014 platform, it looks like the Texas GOP is seriously considering throwing its support behind the practice of what's commonly referred to as "ex-gay therapy." The Houston Chronicle obtained a copy of the draft on Wednesday ahead of Thursday's party conference, noting that the section expressing support for "therapy and treatment to patients who are seeking escape from the homosexual lifestyle" generated some opposition during Thursday morning's committee consideration of the document. Some, it seems, would prefer Texas's GOP return to its old stance on LGBT people: that the "practice of homosexuality tears at the fabric of society."

This is a religious liberty issue, but it's also a pursuit of happiness issue.

SF, what's you favourite treatment out of interest? Are electrodes and hormone replacement therapy a bit too 1950's. What about frontal lobotomies? So what do religious groups offer today? What about aversion therapy involving pinching, or mild electric shocks. Ipecac enduced vomiting perhaps? Punching pillows, forced non sexual male bonding. Non sexual hugging sessions with other males? Flash card aversion therapies? What about blaming mother, or father or blaming the fact you were the oldest/middle/youngest child?  How about being a dirty filthy sinner, no worse than a pedophile, no worse than a dog? How about projecting your homosexual desires onto Jesus? Why not send you to a camp, or perform an exorcism or ritualistically shave you, or beat you with reeds like a child in order to learn good behaviour? What about having everyone you love removed from you until you come back 'fixed'? Why not marry a woman and have kids? Why not get f-cked up and if it fails or you end up topping yourself well it's your own fault for being a stupid weak f-aggot?
