I am considering this an emergency and placing it in my second PPT slot.

This should have been passed after that 2012 At-Large special. There is no reason for elections to be done in EDT, when the Constitution only recognizes standard time. Which I will also point out, is how the Senate functions.

I would point out, that the Atlas time clock though can be adjusted in profile to reflect Daylight Savings time, so it might need to be altered slightly.

Indeed, it might require some adjustment from some members (I just adjusted mine for that very same reason), but this seems pretty good to me.

I am going to request UC in the chance that any further changes are deemed unnecesary.

I ask unanimous consenr to waive the minimum debate and cloture rules to proceed immeidately to a final vote, Senators have 24 hours to object.

I am fine with a final vote.

If Fritz wants to advocate on this, I defer to him here.

Okay....

Well, in Atlasia we have many laws regarding the passage of time- so many days must pass before something can be done, etc.  Every post in the forum is time-stamped by what I will call Atlasia Standard time that is proposed here (I realize that users can adjust this on their end, but I assume that like myself, most people don't.)  When I am determining on what day a particular post was made, I use the date that the forum says it is.  This is the same as US Eastern time during winter months, but is an hour off during daylight savings time.  A recent voter registration inspired me to propose this.  The post was made at 12:30 am Eastern daylight savings time, which is 11:30 pm Atlasia standard time.  If we go strictly by Eastern time, the post was made a day later than the date in the time-stamp.

I noticed a few years back that the forum does not observe daylight savings time.  It seems to me that, as a product of the forum, Atlasia should follow suit.  Keep in mind that many of our members undoubtedly live in areas that do not observe daylight savings time, and there are many who live in countries that observe it on different dates than in the USA.  I believe this proposal will make things less confusing for everyone.

I thank you for your time.  Smiley

I have generally kept the Senate running on EST because the time change would cause a mess for any bills that were on the floor at that time, and going through that twice a year to boot isn't worth it.

The includions of the UTC minus 5 I think should deal with the adjustment issue without need for amendment now that I have had time to review it. If nothing else is wrong, I will start a vote when UC objection period expires in the morning.

All this will really change is the timing of the elections really. Which has caused confusion in the past, most noticebly in the special where Simfan got elected to the Senate.
