Well, here you have it, folks! President Debs was handily renominated over token opposition at the FLP convention, and though some rumblings were made of dropping VP Bryan from the ticket and distancing the party from his pacifism, the two have stayed together (though they are still not the best of friends, with Bryan opposing Debs's radical economic policies and Debs opposing Bryan's fundamentalist Christian views). The two are pushing for a full end to child labor and a slate of nationalizations from the railroads to the banks to the oil industry, all of which have been pushed for in the past with varying degrees of success, among other things.

The Unionists have decided that the solution to fixing their losing-the-past-four elections problem is obviously running an unpopular former President and a failed nominee from eight years ago. Joseph G. Cannon is promising to "stamp out every socialistic influence" he can find and "restore our great nation to the rule of the Constitution, a document for which President Debs has no more use than a tomcat for a marriage license." He wants to continue his old policies of hating on unions and the poor and stuff like that - you know the drill.

The BMP has chosen the two freshest faces they could find to run instead of the also-ran Roosevelt and the dusty Beveridge: freshman Governor Charles E. Hughes and Montana's first Senator Joseph M. Dixon. The main item on their agenda is government reform from the direct primary to strict limits on campaign financing, though they have promoted a continuation of Debs's trust-busting (their first target is Dixon's old enemy the Amalgamated Copper Mining Company).

Finally, there is the Populist Party (Note: This reporter will not call them the Populists - that moniker is saved for the People's Alliance they destroyed). They have decided to go all-out on the racism, nominating founder Tom Watson and Jefferson Davis (no, not that one! This one doesn't have a middle name), both of whom are extremely vitriolic in their hatred of African-Americans - Watson even extends his sphere of hate to Catholics and Jews. They've got an rather leftist economic policy as well (similar to that of the FLP), but their main objective is repealing the Civil Rights Act of 1890 and destroying the protections the last decade and a half have gained for non-whites in the South, restoring the old Jim Crow laws and suchlike. Frankly, it makes this reporter sick.

Well, there you have it. Go out and vote!
