Maybe run for VA gov in 2017. The GOP currently dont have the Lt. Gov or AG so the GOP primary will be wide open.

But my money is on him becoming a lobbyist.

Right now, he'll serve out the last few months, then become option 4. I think I can see a return to elected politics sometime in the future (such as 2018 against Kaine) -- he enjoys politics just too much. But it'll take a few cycles.

He's free to run for President, just not in 2016... I think he'll either try for his old seat again in 2016 or 2018, run for Governor in 2017, run for Senate, or run for President in 2020 or 2024.

If Rick Santorum could be viable in 2012, than Cantor could be viable in 2020 or 2024 (Assuming he doesn't lose another for the same or a different office).

Lobbyist, followed perhaps by a 2018 Senate bid.

Uh, what is his base supposed to be? The establishment isn't going to back someone who never held statewide office for president, and the Tea Party is obviously a non starter since they're euphoric about getting this guy's head on a platter.

Doubt it. Their audience doesn't like him.

He'll probably run some thinktank lobbying firm and show up on Sunday morning talk every now and then.

Chances are this is the night Cantor starts working on his memoir.

Cantor came into Washington for a payday, no doubt, and he will certainly be one of K Street's favorites.

I've never cared for him but that's a very uncharitable characterization. He grew up in a wealthy family and if he wanted a "payday" he would have continued working for his father's real estate investment firm.

Run for his seat again in 2016.  He's young enough that he can still do it.

I honestly think if he is going to get involved in elected politics again, he'll make a go for his seat again in 2016 or maybe 2018. But I do not see statewide.

Lobbyist. He's not going to win a statewide election in a state going D. Lobbying pays extremely well if one has the 'right' clients.

He's resigning on August 18, 2014. I see him running for governor in 2017 or for Senate against Sen. Tim Kaine, who would be somewhat favored in that potential race.

What? It's extremely doubtful he'll run for office after he resigns.

I see him cashing in as a "consultant" at a lobbying firm.
