So today I and a group of friends went to go see 22 Jump Street at the local movie theatre. The movie is rated R, so you need proof that you're 17. My friends had their licenses so they got in no problem, but my wallet had been stolen along with my ID so I didn't have one. I have a full goatee and mustache, so I obviously look 17. I showed the lady my school I'd, stating I was a high school senior (her reasoning being I could still possibly be 16). Then I showed her my blood donor card where I must be 17 to donate blood, she still wouldn't take it. I then got my parent to come up to the theatre to get them to let me in with him but they then revealed that they require the parent to sit through the movie with me.

Do y'all think that these rules around movies are getting a bit unnecessarily strict.

I haven't read your post, but I assume racism is to blame.

It is not. A very annoying situation for Clinton1996 to be in. Losing your ID must really, really suck.

Anywho, I hope it all gets worked out.

Actually, racism might've been involved. I'm a black male who was with a group that included a white female. The lady working was black, and Tyler Perry teaches us that black women hate black men with white women. Unless you play for the NBA.

Yes. This is very true. They can be tremendously bitter about such things. I have seen it firsthand, many times. It's rather self-perpetuating, actually.
