I highly doubt this will become an issue.

Some people are so desperate, it's quite sad.

If this was, say, Rand Paul or Chris Christie, then you guys would be all over this.

Yeah. It's lucky for her that she'll be able to hide behind the fact that she's Hillary Clinton. Still, it might've been nice to hold back on this until late October 2016. It could've done more damage.

People keep dredging up these tired old nothing stories.  Sure, Hillary Clinton was a lawyer.  Sure, Hillary Clinton ran over a couple of teenagers with a train in Arkansas.  Sure, Hillary Clinton used her Whitewater profits to fund Al Qaeda terrorists in Libya.  Sure, Hillary Clinton killed Vince Foster.  Get over it.

Why yes, defense lawyers are legally obligated to defend their clients.

It's pathetic that with Clinton's 40-year record of public graft that she is being criticized for a brief episode of competence.

The "[insert defense lawyer here] defended [insert bad person here]!!!!111!!!!" line of attack shamelessly panders to the ignorant. It's pretty sad.

Founding father and 2nd POTUS John Adams defended the British soldiers from the Boston Massacre (getting acquittals for most of them). Could you imagine the attack ad they would make out of that today?

Obviously, she was obligated to defend the guy, and no one can fault her for that.  It is nonetheless disheartening to read that she basically tried to use the "little bit nutty, little bit slutty’’ rape defense in a case where the victim was a 12 year old.  (E.g., she wrote "I have been informed that the complainant is emotionally unstable...with a tendency to seek out older men and to engage in fastasizing.”)  I hope she now wishes that she hadn't decided to go that route, but whatevs.  It was a long time ago.

Maybe they released it to coincide with the PBS broadcast of The Escape Artist.

At the risk of sounding MRA here, I don't see why that isn't something that should be considered if actually true, especially if the girl had made false accusations in the past.  In fact, I don't even consider that the disturbing part of the tape in the same way her laughing about the ordeal was.

This. The double standard on this forum is very annoying.

Although this isn't an issue and shouldn't become one. Already saw this on Fox earlier, its a desperate attempt for right wing media to smear her some more.

This is pretty delicious irony coming from a guy that vehemently defends the right to a trial for terrorists...but now Hillary is bad for defending a guy during his due process?

I know you'll adopt any right wing gossip/talking points to try to smear Democrats, but at least try to remain consistent.

Fair enough.  I would like to point out, for the record though, that if you go back and look at the coverage of this case during the 2008 campaign:

http://sweetness-light.com/archive/hillary-versus-the-allegedly-raped-child

the alleged victim still maintains that she was raped, and was shocked at this "history of false accusations" defense.  She said:

Anyway, the original February 2008 Newsday article about this no longer appears to be online, but you can read extensive exerpts from it in the link above, as it provides more background.

If this was Saint Rand or Jesus Christie, everyone here, including a lot of Democrats would be screaming a defense for them. That's the real double standard.

You and I know that is not true, but you're so far out in fantasy land that I won't bother you with it.

Anyway, no story here. Clinton was doing her job.

I don't know why people think anyone would care if this was Paul or Cruz. People stopped talking about Rand's plagiarism (which was a much bigger deal than this) like 2 days after it happened. Hell, nobody even talks about Bridgegate anymore despite the fact that if Christie is implicated he could be literally imprisoned for it.
