Just out of curioisity...some of you Republicans have stated that you a) want a balanced budget amendment to significantly reduce the deficit and b) to reduce business taxation and income tax across the board. I just don't see how you can lower revenue so drastically and at the same time take care of a huge deficit?

Cut spending. Massively. Mercilessly. In ways that would cause over 70 Senators and 300 Representatives to have heart attacks...

I don't see that in their other stands though...they're not prpposing abolishing social security, public health care, affirmative action etc. Or cutting military funding substantially.

Well, they're not me. Cheesy

At minimum, I'd eliminate or at least vastly reduce farm subsidies and other 'pork' programs. Or at least absolutely refuse to sign any budget that gave them a penny. Of course, the probable result would be deadlock resolved by a pork-laden budget with an overruled veto. Tongue

And I plan on gradually eliminating the civil service, and replacing them with hired contractors. Actually, I got that idea from a series of alternate-history pseudo-fantastic fiction called 'The Big One'. A list of all the stories is found here, although they are posted on another site: http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic.php?t=40521&start=0

Of course, in that TL, the 'Contractors' are actually nearly immortal 'demons'....

Even within the limited President Forever positions, I am all for vastly slashing environmental programs.

Okay, the contest is closed.  I'll finish up the last few profiles and start after that.

To seed the teams, I'll follow MHS's rules and play each person against a weak candidate of the other party.
