Schweitzer is the Alternative alternative. He's the stuff of offbeat 90s films and OG hipsters.

America, elect this man.

Schweitzer would be a decent candidate if 45%+ of whites were willing to vote Democratic for President. He's terrible for the current coalition.

Just because 45% of Whites haven't voted for the Democratic candidate in the last two presidential elections doesn't mean they're not willing to in the future. In fact, that's sort of why a Schweitzer candidacy in the GE could potentially be devastating for Republicans.

If Schweitzer was the nominee it is probably pretty likely that African American, Asian American, and Hispanic turnout for the Democrats would diminish since Schweitzer probably isn't very appealing to those groups.  The problem is that Schweitzer probably couldn't choose a VP like Cory Booker or Julian Castro because Schweitzer would probably need someone with a lot of experience to compensate for his inexperience.

According to national exit polls, no Democratic candidate has received 45% or higher with whites since 1976. Anyway, that's better argument for an election like 2008, not one after 8 years in power with a Democratic President unpopular with whites. Now is not the time for the party to take a risk.

Maybe Schweitzer should run for the Libertarian party nomination or something. He's certainly not a Democrat anymore and would turn off a majority of the Democratic coalition if he were somehow nominated.

Hillary has already shown the ability to improve upon Obama's share of the white vote. Why gamble on the gaffe machine who trails Ted Cruz in his home state?

Can we please not do this?  The whole Brian Schweitzer thing.  Can we just shove him in a closet somewhere, like junior assistant undersecretary of Agriculture or something and just forget he exists?

Actually, I wonder if it's possible for Hillary to shut him up with a promise of Secretary of Agriculture or Interior.
