This contains everything the present Article three has but it manages to do it with three clauses instead of three sections.

Why would we want to make them take longer? Particuarlly the votes, we moved away from seven day votes on final votes on legislation for a reason, Tyrion, why should we be forced to wait seven days because a Senator is inactive or it is tied?

If anything we should reduce the base vote time to three days and use the injunction to access the full five if thats the route you want to take, but our approach has been to cut voting times across the board.

I didn't make anything longer, Yankee!

In fact, the time periods are all the same. I just changed the wording. The injunction is still required to push from 5 to 7 days on the vote and 3 to 5 days on the questioning.

I'm fine with both the Tyrion amendment and the amendment in general as well, the more efficient we can make these process the better (and we will have to deal with confirmation hearings pretty soon after all).

Okay I see now.

Bore, part of Tyrion's amendment was to change the wording so that it didn't say it had a maximum of X but could be extended to Y. Instead the maximum is why but to access the last z of that Y, you have to file an injunction with a second.

Would you be against revising your amendment to reflect the same appraoch, since your amendment presently leaves that apprach in the previous paragraph and then doesn't in the next, which reduces consistency of approach. It is a minor think, but our goal here is simplicity and whilst sometimes a two step is necessary, I don't believe it is here and your primary goal is a reduction in the vote time which can still be achieved and by the same amount.

I'm fine with an amendment which changes the style not the substance. I just copied the changes tyrion made into my amendment though, so I'm not sure what you want.

The change that Yankee is suggesting is to make this:

five instead of three, because that's the standard we used in the first clause.

That was part of the intention of my original amendment, as well. And yes, it's style, not substance, as there's no change to the technical usage of the wording.

Basically if anyone else is confused, Tyrion has been arguing that it makes no sense to use a word like maximum and then talk about extending beyond that. Instead maximum is full amount and to access the later part, you have to do what ever in this case an injunction.
