I like him in the same way I like Nixon-I admire his ability and talent, but I detested his views. Still, I could see myself voting for him if I were alive in his time.

Is there such a thing as a very mild HP? Long seems like a great person, but many of his views on economics seem risky, albeit with good intentions.

And if I were to implement a comprehensive policy plan (thanks God I won't), I'd most definitely call it "Share Our Wealth".

He was a corrupt asshole, but so was everybody else around him at the time so I can't really hold that against him.  He did a LOT for the poor, that's good.  He didn't like the Fed Reserve, that's good.  The "share the wealth" thing wasn't.  He was certainly an ass.  Baptists getting in bed with Catholics is always weird.  He was against free speech and a free press, bad obviously.  Horny for power, not good (but is true of nearly all poiticos I suppose).  Taken together, he probably meant well and likely didn't have an option to not be a corrupt bully and get what he thought needed done, but I can't vote FF for someone with so many unFF like actions.

I tend to think that non-racist Southern politicians during Jim Crow are FFs.
