When some people join this site, they start out as libertarians, but move to the left. They were usually Paulities. As time went by, they became liberals. How this happened no one knows, maybe atlas has something in its water.

The only ones who haven't changed are wormyguy and JCL, and though ElectionsGuy is new, he may too become a liberal someday. Maybe. Who knows?

It truly is strange that so many libertarians here either move leftward or become less libertarian in general.  Maxwell and Sanchez also come to mind.

I've flirted with Objectivism for a while and tried to reconcile with Christianity but learned pretty quickly that a sixteen year old is not capable of being a philosopher Tongue. Right now I think I'd call myself a "small l" libertarian who is ready to work within the two party system.

I've also come to the conclusion that Obamacare is here to stay, and since I fear it might implode, I have moved towards favoring a single payer system run similar to the British system. I’d like to get a President David Cameron right about now.

None the less, I still am a Paulite, so carry on in making fun of me.

It was actually a pretty good and typically Joe-esq zinger.

Maybe a little too close to home for comfort?

I don't think anyone has ever mistaken dead0man - who qualifies for Tricare and never saw an Israeli subsidy he didn't like - for an actual libertarian.

Sad that they are no longer libertarian minded, but that really isn't what made them FF/HP to begin with. Mechaman for example may not be a libertarian anymore but he is still certifiable FF.

FF but most of them were FFs already. And many of them that remained libertarian were HP but like Jbrase hinted at, not all of them. Obviously him and Dallas and some others are FFs still.

Did any of them get worse by leaving libertarianism though?

20RP12 had problems, but his ideology was the least of them.

I changed a little, but I'm still very much libertarian on most things.

And Joyce is an FF, but 20RP12 is an HP.

I've actually become more libertarian since I started posting here a year ago.

Depends on case by case basis. I have been here for a year and have become less libertarian (though only slightly), I still am far from a progressive or a reactionary.

EFA.

Though in fairness both were FF's before they moved left. R2D2 basically became insufferable as he started moving left.

I'm glad I got my libertarian phase over before I ever posted here.
