I did not intend to come back to run. I am running because the bills being presented on the Senate floor are abominable and I am tired of heckling from the gallery....

I am active in my Legion post and may soon take on a new leadership role there....I have daughters and a son and grandkids and a beautiful wife and I spend my time with them. I do not promise to be the most active Senator or run the most active campaign. What I promise you is that you will get my two cents and I'll vote my conscience.

I disagree with many of you on many issues, and if you do not vote for me because of that- I respect that

But I want to join my pal NC Yankee and others in standing opposed to the frankly "bullcrap" bills being put forward. You folks are being served sh*t on a plate by your elected representatives and I can do you better then that

Vote for me if you want

Could you perhaps elaborate a bit on which bills are "bullcrap", and why?

Presumably my bills that reduce the influence of the military in society at-large.

If it might not be too naïve to query, in what Senate election will you be a candidate, exactly?

Thanks to those of you who expressed support...

Fritz- sure.... the recent bills involving the military in my opinion are the most absurd pieces of legislation other then jokes to have come thru Atlasia. Let's start with the Demilitarization Act....it aims to completely gut our military. 1) It takes recruiters out of schools and does not allow them to actually recruit...for more elaboration on my view on that, see the bill thread   2) It aims to get rid of ROTC and JROTC- these are essential components of our military because they provide a large chunk of our officers...in addition, these programs provide structure and often scholarships for our youth, letting them attending and excel in higher education   3)  It aims to get rid of Selective Service.... as Duke says in the thread- no one wants the draft to exist. I know more then nearly any one how it takes young men from their families, but it must be a last resource available for our nation were we ever to need it.     However......we do not need it because our all volunteer military is serving our nation well, due to the efforts of military recruiters!!! So it does circle back

Next up.....let's talk about the Democratize the Officer Corps Act. It aims to send enlisted men and women to the military academies.... as a former enlisted, I undertand the sentiment- but here is an example where my experience will allow me to properly advise the Senate on a course of action. Enlisted men and women who seek to become officers have a course....Officer Candidate School, Officer Training School as it is known in my service. There is no prolem with this service. Enlisteds who become officers do so after years of experience and thus have fewer years left in their time of service, whereas military academies are meant to get officers in the service at the age of 22 in their first deployment to develop future colonels, generals, captains, and admirals

Then- let me focus on the End War Profiteering Act. Again- I understand the sentiment here, but it is inconceivable for a few reasons.... 1) Competition is good for our military....if one contractor creates more effective and lighter body armor for example, that would be encouraged. We need competition    2) The governing board of the proposed "AMC" is impractical....random lottery of citizens? You'd have people with no idea what they are doing. And an election of slots among enlisted personnel is impractical and runs contrary to the top-down structure with which the military needs to succeed

Yes- I noticed that all three are yours, and I do not mean to target you. I do understand your sentiment on two of those, and I appreciate your focus on military issues. We have fundamental disagreements about these policies ad I hope to debate you soon in the Senate

Let me also add that I not only disagree with the bills, but the tone- particularly of Mr. Adam Griffin who I previously considered a respectful and respectable leader in this game. I cannot let such comments fly as comparing military recruiters to rapists

And as for which election- whichever one is in August

I can't endorse your candidacy for obvious reasons, but I like that you're returning to the game and wish you luck.

Ah, I see, the At-large elections. I thought for a moment that there was an upcoming special election about which I was unaware. Wink

We do need your perspective and views if for nothing else then to ensure these things are properly vetted and debated, which is good for the game.
