Mild FO; although I don't agree with them on everything, I do support basic gun rights.

I'd say that less than half empty quoting the "...and I'm a gun rights supporter" bit actually support any sort of 2nd amendment right.

HO for being:

unprincipled and bizarrely inconsistent.
,

The NRA is the slick marketing and propaganda arm of a billion dollar industry that wants to sell products.  They don't care about gun owners or hunters or freedom or whatever, they care about making money off of guns.  These people are willing to see black kids get shot just to make a few extra dollars.  It's sick.
,

and for standing in the way of meaningful regulation.

Should be put on this country's list of terrorist organizations, in a category with Code Pink and the Westboro Baptist Church.

FO. Far better than the GOA, which is just a conservative advocacy group.

Are you serious? The NRA is just a gun-themed conservative advocacy group.

It was arguably a freedom organization before it got hijacked by libertarian loonies in the 70s, but now it's obviously one of the worst lobby groups in America.

Terrible.

I mean they'd be OK if they were pro-gun rights, but they just seem pro-gun.

Terrible.

I mean they'd be OK if they were pro-gun rights, but they just seem pro-gun.

They sometimes advocate as though the rights belonged to the gun itself rather than the person who might want to have a gun.   They figure that if "Guns don't kill people, people do" that if you have to place restrictions on either the gun or the person, it is better to restrict the person directly. Just look at their response to the mental health issue, with Wayne Pierre talking about how we need to start locking more people up. The 2nd Amendment exists to protect the others, but they'll give up the rest of the Bill of Rights in a flash if they think it will help them protect the rights of every kind of gun to exist under the 2nd.

The NRA is a horrible lobbying group that has opposed even the most modest of gun control proposals, proposals that upwards of 70% of people support, on behalf of the gun industry. Politicians beholden to this organization are some or the most spineless, objectionable wretches in Washington.
