Any member of this organization will not be getting a vote from me in any election.

I wouldn't go that far, but I would have some serious second thoughts. We have clip limits, a national licensing system for firearms, and a requirement that owners of weapons carry liability insurance. These regulations save lives and I do not want to see them threatened for the sake of someone's Rambo fantasy.

I'm for these regulations but I don't feel that we need any more. That's why I joined.

What is wrong with Bore's amendment?

Most developed countries have moved past the point where self-defense is a legitimate reason to own a weapon. Guns are for farmers, hunters, target shooters, and hobbyists. Not vigilantes and would-be revolutionaries who think they'll pull a Paris 1848 on Main Street.

Yeah, I don't see where the issue is here. Seems like a simple straight forward amendment.
Well, yes, it is fairly simple. That isn't the issue. No one is saying that they don't understand the amendment. They disagree with its content, which has nothing to do with how simple or straightforward it is.

We got to get away from the presumption that those who disagree do so because they are either stupid or don't understand the issue, it really hinders the debate in what is suppose to be a game built on division of opinion. His sentiment reminds me a lot of the counterproducitve approach some took the abortion debate in the Mideast last year (Crush it and stamp those out who did it).

I call for a vote on this matter. The president of our organization simply cannot unilaterally endorse one candidate when two pro-second amendment candidate are running who both can win if the president of our group wouldn't openly and privatly attempt to undermine a candidate.

As a member of this coalition and someone who has witnessed JCL's work for years, I find it surprising that he isn't being endorsed as well in this race.

Yeah, I sort of find this a little suspect as well. Is this a coalition, or one man's soapbox?

Although this is only a one-issue, pro-gun organization, I find it despicable that you're endorsing a pro-gun libertarian over a true conservative who's not only a member of your organization, but has always been a strong fighter for gun rights.

Now I'm a strong supporter of gun control so I obviously won't join this group, but I agree with JCL, tmth, and Hagrid that the Coalition At-Large deserves a say in the endorsed candidate for this race!

Yeah, I'm not in favor of a group that doesn't allow an endorsement vote.

I've thought for a long time, but I think that this is a right cause.

If I can vote (I would not want that my entry in the organization was viewed as a "stratagem" to vote for the endorsement.)...

This vote is just chaotic and makes us look bad. We don't even know how many candidates can be endorsed, which candidates are eligible for endorsement, what voting method should be used for endorsement, or what an endorsement even entails. The vote should be ended and somebody needs to draft some basic by-laws, or at the very least outline endorsement voting procedures before we vote again. I'll try to do so but would like some help.

At-Large Special Election Ballot

[1] Dr. Cynic

[3] Matt from VT

[4] Mechaman

[5] Poirot

[6] WrathoftheGods

[ ] JCL

[2] Spiral

How do I not properly advocate second amendment causes? Plus I'm thinking some of these folks are more anti-gun than I.

The charter for this organization states the following:

The CPGR is an advocacy organization founded to further the cause of gun rights and guarantee their protection. Although a national organization, the CPGR also works at the regional level to further the cause. To join the CPGR, simply post in this thread that you wish to become a member.

I believe that the most important gun right that our government must protect is the right not to be shot, and I do not have confidence in your commitment to this right. That is why I did not preference you on my ballot.

The organization is a nay vote on the right not to get shot bill.

I don't expect that you would do enough to protect Atlasians from gun violence if you were elected. Whether your views are within the mainstream or not is irrelevant.

Education in our schools on responsible gun use is a priority. I think you would be surprised on how I'd treat gun violence. I believe consequences against violent gun crime should be severe as a deterrent. By teaching responsible use young and harshly punishing violent gun crime, I'd meet your standard.
